Welcome to North Platte
A tribute to Buffalo Bill's Wild West Extravaganza.
Located at the entrance to Cody Park, the Wild West Memorial pays tribute to the individuals that made the Wild West show so successful. The cowboys and Indians, trick ropers and riders, the sharpshooters and all the rest.
The larger-than-life size bronze statue was donated to the citizens of North Platte by the citizens of Great Britian in appreciation for all the entertainment brought by the Wild West Show.
The Memorial grounds are surrounded by flags of all the states and foreign countries to which the Wild West Show traveled.
In 1882, the pond in Cody Park was a horse racing pavilion. It was here that Buffalo Bill staged the Old Glory Blowout, which evolved into his Wild West Show.
